Bill Belichick had no interest in rehashing his conversations with Tom Brady
Bill Belichick doesn’t want to talk about yesterday’s news.
Opting to stand, rather than sit down at a table at the NFL coaches breakfast Tuesday, the Patriots coach fielded questions about a number of topics from the Patriots offseason. But when asked once again about his relationship with quarterback Tom Brady, the 65-year-old pushed back.
“Have you had a chance to talk to Tom this offseason since the Super Bowl?”
“Yeah, I already covered that the other day,” Belichick responded.
When the reporter apologized and requested the coach re-state his answer he’s “not local,” Belichick had a different solution in mind.
“It’s on every internet site,” he said. “I’m sure we can pull it up for you.”
Though he unsurprisingly didn’t pull up his comments on the spot, Belichick was right. He had discussed his relationship with Brady at the league meetings Sunday. Asked if he would take into consideration any of Brady’s comments from the finale of his docu-series, “Tom vs. Time,” the seven-time Super Bowl champ expressed little to no concerns about the ominous ending.
“I’ve had direct conversations with Tom, many times, obviously, through a long period of time,” Belichick told reporters in Orlando. “I’ll rely on those conversations that I have with him directly rather than something else. Tom and I have always had a good line of communication. We’ve always been able to talk directly to each other. I don’t see that changing. So I’ll rely on those instead of anything else.”
