A Tom Brady friends and family Super Bowl ring sells for a record-breaking price
Looks like someone close to Tom Brady decided to cash in on Super Bowl LI.
After the Patriots famously overcame a 28-3 deficit to defeat the Atlanta Falcons in the 2017 Super Bowl, players and coaches received championship rings. But a smaller ring was available for family and friends.
Now one of those rings has sold at auction. For an astounding price. And it appears it was someone associated with Tom Brady. A family version of the Super Bowl LI championship ring — with “Brady’’ on it — sold Sunday morning for $344,927. That’s the highest price ever for a football title ring, according to ESPN.
The ring is 10 percent smaller than Tom Brady’s ring and has 265 diamonds, compared with 283 on the larger rings.
Ken Goldin of Goldin Auctions would not reveal who sold the ring or who bought it.
The price far exceeds the $230,401 paid in 2012 for the championship ring owned by Lawrence Taylor of the New York Giants for that team’s win in Super Bowl XXV, ESPN said.
