In a rare glimpse inside one of the NFL’s most secretive places, it turns out the Patriots’ locker room is actually a relatively typical work environment.

There’s discussion of a range of topics, from the NBA to cryptocurrency. And despite being the most successful quarterback in history, Tom Brady is a frequent target for jokes.

Profiled in a recent special for the NFL Network, the veil was pulled back a little bit on the Patriots’ locker room. You can catch a glimpse below:

Who do the Patriots give a hard time to? Apparently it’s not the rookies as much as it’s Tom Brady.

“People get on him the most,” safety Devin McCourty explained. “Whether it’s some print ad he’s on or his diet.”

Some themes have been a timeless source of comedic material regarding Brady. His shoes and hair have received attention from teammates in multiple iterations of the Patriots’ dynasty, and his style has always been critiqued. As former Patriot Matt Light remembered in a 2017 interview:

I always gave him a hard time for the fact that he has a locker next to his locker for his wardrobe. While most of us Neanderthals sauntered into the locker room wearing yesterday’s sweatpants and a wrinkled T-shirt, you know he showed up in a cardigan sweater with handmade wooden buttons and skinny jeans and designer shoes. He’s the fashionista as most quarterbacks are.

When he came in sporting his… Oh, what’s that guys’ name, I used to watch him all the time… Mr. Rogers. When he came in sporting the Mr. Rogers cardigan, that was one of my all-time moments for him.

This season, there one new addition in the locker room hasn’t gone unnoticed.

“He does have the old man chair,” said McCourty. “He needs to rock a little bit.”

Beyond the jokes, receiver Danny Amendola offered up a big-picture description of the space.
