According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Patriots claimed tight end Martellus Bennett off waivers late Thursday afternoon. Bennett had been released by the Green Bay Packers on Wednesday for “failure to disclose a physical condition.”

The 30-year-old was a member of the Patriots for just one year, in which he recorded 701 receiving yards and seven touchdowns en route to his first Super Bowl ring. At the end of October, Bennett also announced via Instagram that he likely will retire at the conclusion of the season.
