Kyrie Irving acknowledged the importance of Celtics-Lakers games: In his first Celtics-Lakers game as a Boston player, Kyrie Irving said it wasn’t a run-of-the-mill contest.

“You could definitely see it was a different buzz from the other games and of course, the ‘Beat LA’ chants. I have only watched that on YouTube and now I got to experience it out here. That was really exciting.” (NESN)

Boston sports radio host says Roy Halladay “got what he deserved”: 98.5 The Sports Hub co-host Michael Felger had strong words in response to the death of former pitcher Roy Halladay (who died in a plane crash).

Rick Pitino knew about and took part in a payment scheme, per indictment: Former Louisville basketball coach Rick Pitino, who was recently fired amid a federal investigation of corruption in NCAA basketball, allegedly knew about – and helped to facilitate – a plan to pay recruit Brian Bowen, according to a federal indictment:

Does the availability of Martellus Bennett interest the Patriots? Former Patriots tight end Martellus Bennett was suddenly released by the Packers on Wednesday. Bennett said he would  retire at the end of the season, and could be looking for a team to play out his remaining NFL games.

The Patriots, with whom Bennett won the Super Bowl a season ago, could potentially be interested in brining the capable tight end back to New England. (NESN)
