Tom Brady breaks pregame routine, enjoys a moment on Patriots’ bench
Like many NFL players, Tom Brady is a creature of habit. His pregame routine rarely – if ever – deviates. Yet Brady made a surprising alteration on Sunday prior to the 1 p.m. kickoff against the Chargers.
He took the field early, and comfortably placed himself on the bench at Gillette Stadium. From the familiar confines of the Patriots’ sideline, he appeared to take a moment to relax while wearing his headphones:

Patriots’ beat writers were caught off-guard by the move:
Good morning from Gillette. Tom Brady is out here sitting on the bench 3 hours before kickoff. First time I’ve seen this pic.twitter.com/4YbKz4Ga0s

Tom Brady soaking it all in pre-game. A bit of a change-up for him in terms of routine. Don’t often see him on the field this early. pic.twitter.com/T9EvMI0gEk

Relaxing before games is nothing new for Brady, in a sense. He famously took a nap shortly before the kickoff of Super Bowl XXXVI.
