Morning sports update: Dont’a Hightower is reportedly out for the season
The Astros evened things up in Game 2 of the World Series on Wednesday night, while the Cavaliers shockingly lost to the Nets. Closer to home for New England fans, the news is more somber: The leader of the Patriots’ defense is reportedly out for the remainder of the 2017 season.
Here’s a look at those stories and a few other events from around the sports world:

The Astros’ win in a frenetic World Series Game 2 featured records, lead changes, and dozens of other subplots: Rallying to win a see-saw extra innings classic, the Astros won the first World Series game in Houston franchise history. Having been swept in 2005 by the White Sox, and dropping Game 1, Houston finally found a win in the October Classic. And the game was certainly classic in its purest form.
Connecticut native George Springer belted the eventual game-winning home run, clinching a World Series record in the process (Houston became the first team in history to hit Series home runs in the 9th, 10th, and 11th innings). Both teams have already combined for more home runs than were hit in the seven-game 2014 Series, and Game 2 set an individual World Series record with eight home runs. (The Ringer)
Cameron Maybin won everyone a free taco: Needless to say, he’s happy about it.
