Patriots quarterback Tom Brady said he’ll be watching the New Orleans Saints game Monday night just like the rest of us, although he’ll probably eschew beer and wings for avocado ice cream.

“The challenging thing about earlier in the year is you just have no idea what you’re going to face,’’ Brady said in an interview on WEEI Monday. “This week, this is the only game we can really watch with this team, so I’ll probably pay a lot of attention tonight and then I’ll get on it early tomorrow morning and throughout the week.

“We’ve all got to put a lot into it. It’s a tough place to play. They’re a good team, They score a lot of points offensively. They’ve got some young players that we’ve probably never played against. They play pretty well at home. We’ve got a big challenge. We’re going to have to play really well.’’

Brady was understandably not happy after Thursday night’s 42-27 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs

“We just have to be a lot better in a lot of areas, starting with our attitude and our competitiveness,’’ said Brady after the game.

“It’s execution, it’s attitude, it’s competitiveness, it’s urgency. It’s everything,’’ Brady reiterated Monday. “We’ve just got to do a better job. We played against a good football team, and we just didn’t get the job done.’’

There were rumblings in the preseason that the Patriots could go 19-0 en route to winning a sixth Super Bowl. Brady was asked if perhaps the team had been caught up in that hype.

“It’s hard to tell. I think that remains to be seen,’’ he said. “It’s a long season and I think it’s really a new team. There’s new players, a lot of new players. There’s a lot of new schemes, obviously new opponents and challenges, new circumstances you are dealing with, and you have got to try and get this team to be as good as we can as quickly as we can. It’s a long marathon of a season.’’

Brady and his teammates have had three extra days to stew on the loss, as well as look ahead to the Saints, who play the Minnesota Vikings Monday night.

“It’s probably easier when you’re getting right back to work,’’ said Brady. “It actually kind of sucked having three extra days to think about it and re-watch the game.

“The good thing about football season when it is Sunday-to-Sunday is Monday you watch it, and by Tuesday you’re already moving on to the next team. I have kind of moved on to the next team, but we haven’t really done that formally as a team. We’re doing that today.

“So it kind of sits with us a little bit longer, but maybe it’s good for us to sit with this longer and make us continue to evaluate and nitpick and so forth.’’
