Floyd Mayweather says ‘close friend’ Tom Brady texted him before McGregor bout
"An unbelievable guy with unbelievable talent."
While Rob Gronkowski wasn’t willing to take sides in the upcoming boxing match between Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather, Tom Brady appears to be tied more closely with one camp in particular.
Brady attended Mayweather’s victorious fight against Manny Pacquiao in 2015, and according to the undefeated boxer, is a “close friend.”
In an ESPN interview, Mayweather – who, like Brady, is 40 years old – said that the Patriots quarterback texted him in the run-up to the Saturday night fight against McGregor.
“That’s a close friend of mine,” Mayweather told Sal Paolantonio. “Tom Brady’s a very, very close friend. An unbelievable guy with unbelievable talent.”
“He’s a great guy. Actually, Tom Brady text[ed] me yesterday,” Mayweather said. “We have a cool friendship. He asked me how everything’s going. And I texted him back, ‘Everything’s cool, you are you doing? How’s the family?’ And he said everything’s going A-okay.”
The Mayweather-McGregor bout is set to take place on Saturday night (9 p.m.) in Las Vegas.
