Patriots gave President Trump Super Bowl ring: The Patriots told WBZ-TV it’s because they were the first team invited to the White House by the Trump administration. Team owner Robert Kraft and Trump have been friends for years, and Kraft had promised to provide him with a Super Bowl ring for his future presidential library. (CBS Sports)
Tom Brady views solar eclipse at Gillette Stadium: The Patriots had meetings at Gillette Stadium on Monday, but some players took some time to view the solar eclipse near the field. One of them was Tom Brady, and the Patriots were able to catch the quarterback on camera.

Indians beat Red Sox on bunt-error walk-off: After Guyer’s leadoff double against Brandon Workman (0-1) in the ninth, Holt fielded the bunted ball and tried to throw out Guyer at third. Drew Pomeranz cleared to start on Wednesday: He was cleared on Monday after throwing approximately 35 pitches in the bullpen at Progressive Field. Pomeranz left Friday night’s start against the Yankees in the fourth inning because of back spasms. (The Boston Globe)
Brad Stevens talked about the status Isaiah Thomas’s hip: “[Thomas] has another follow-up and another scan in the early part of September when he arrives back here out East, and from there we will know an exact timeline,” Stevens told The Vertical. “It’s been a lot of appropriate rest, a lot of rehab. There have been some good strides here certainly in the last month or few weeks, but we’re not going to know that until after that early September time frame.” (The Vertical)
