In the wake of the white supremacist rally on Saturday, countless individuals have been speaking out against the violence and hateful views showcased in the Virginia demonstrations.

Former Patriots center Damien Woody took to Twitter to express his thoughts on the status of race relations in the U.S. Woody, a Boston College alumnus, fired off eight tweets detailing a few of his wife’s firsthand experiences as a black woman in addition to one of his own.

The current ESPN analyst acknowledged that he is “not oppressed by any means” but urged others to “stop turning the blind eye.” He closed his messages with a request: “All I ask from my white brothers/sisters who hear us….don’t stand on the sidelines!”
