There was no wild comeback at Gillette Stadium on Thursday night.

New England tied the score twice but never led in the team’s first preseason contest of the year against Jacksonville, as the Jaguars never looked back after getting on the board first with a 27-yard field goal by Jason Myers. The away team would go on to win 31-24.

First quarter

Veteran quarterback Chad Henne and rookie wide receiver Keelan Cole smoked the Patriots defense for a 97-yard touchdown reception:

Fourth-overall draft pick Leonard Fournette scored his first points in the NFL:

In a nine-play, 76-yard drive that took less than two minutes, quarterback Jimmy Garappolo hit a leaping Austin Carr seconds before halftime:
