Tom Brady says his mom’s training camp visit was a surprise
"I didn't even know my mom was here."
FOXBOROUGH — Among the thousands of fans that came out to Gillette Stadium to watch the Patriots practice on Tuesday, one supporter was none other than Tom Brady’s mother, Galynn. After a productive day on the field, the quarterback greeted his mom and nephew with a kiss.

Galynn’s visit was apparently a special surprise for the 40-year-old’s birthday. Brady told his former teammate Willie McGinest in a post-practice interview, “I didn’t even know my mom was here.”
“My parents were trying to surprise me to come back here, and I just saw them when I ran out for practice,” he said. “That was a nice surprise I just found out about.”
McGinest also asked the five-time Super Bowl champion about what it was like to have his mother, who completed her cancer treatments earlier this year, at Super Bowl LI. Brady explained what the celebration meant to him:
It was pretty incredible to have Mom there. And I think part of it, too, is that my whole family was there. I had all my kids, my daughter was there, my wife obviously, my parents, all my sisters, all my nieces, all my brother in-laws. To celebrate before the game at picture day, to celebrate with them after the game, I mean that’s what makes it special. To get to this point takes a lot of people. It takes a lot of support. You know, there’s a lot of people that have to sacrifice a lot of things for doing this.
To reach that game and then to win it. And then to celebrate with all those people—not only your teammates and all the people associated with the team, but your family, the people that, you know, they’re trying to help us live our dream. You couldn’t do it without them.
While Brady spoke with McGinest, wide receiver Julian Edelman chatted with Galynn.
