Tom Brady — and Bill Belichick — did some push-ups at Patriots training camp

FOXBOROUGH — Although the Patriots joint practices with the Jacksonville Jaguars have seen their fair share of highlights

…there was no catchy game play in two of the more memorable moments from Tuesday’s training camp session.

After a ruled incompletion between quarterback Tom Brady and wide receiver Julian Edelman, the Pats squad hit the deck for a series of push-ups. The coaching staff was not excused from the exercise, as offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels dropped down for 10 alongside Brady.

In a post-practice interview with former Patriot linebacker Willie McGinest, Brady said, “Even when you lose, you win when you do push-ups.”

Head coach Bill Belichick also joined the fun during third-string scrimmage play.

According to a judgment call by Belichick, the Patriots’ red-zone offense failed to convert on a fourth-and-goal, which meant the unit had to perform the usual punishment: push-ups. The first one to get into position was none other than the 65-year-old in the cut-off hoodie. All players quickly followed suit.

Belichick’s former special assistant Michael Lombardi was reportedly not surprised by the move.

“His ability for players to trust his decision is amazing,” Lombardi said, via ESPN. “Others would argue, but because trust is so much a part of their culture, they all buy in. Trust is everyone doing what the leader says, including the leader.”
