Vince Wilfork announced his NFL retirement Monday afternoon as only he could — while dancing and grilling.

In a video posted on Twitter, the former New England Patriots defensive tackle said he’s trading in his football career for his other true passion.

“No more cleats; I’m moving on to smoked meats,” Wilfork — wearing his trademark overalls — said in the video, which was sponsored by Kingsford.

Wilfork, who has become known for his barbecue affinity, has been a paid promoter of Kingsford since May.

The 35-year-old also announced a “farewell tailgate” September 7 in New England. The Patriots are scheduled to play the Kansas City Chiefs in the NFL regular season opener that Thursday night.

Wilfork was drafted by the Patriots in 2004 and anchored New England’s defense line for 11 seasons, during which he was named to five Pro Bowls and and one first-team All-Pro team. The colossal nose tackle also helped the Patriots win two Super Bowls during that time.

Following the team’s 2015 Super Bowl victory, Wilfork signed with the Houston Texans, for whom he played during the last two NFL seasons. Earlier this summer, he said he was considering retirement after the Texans declined to offer him a new contract.

Following his announcement Monday afternoon, perhaps Wilfork will finally be able to entice Tom Brady into trying some of his ribs at his tailgate next month (probably not, though).
