Tom Brady’s ‘Madden’ rating has come a long way since 2001
And as Brady explained last fall, his speed has also improved.
The arc of Tom Brady’s career can be measured in many ways, but few are more satisfying for Patriots fans than the evolution of his Madden rating. An annually popular video game release, the EA Sports creators recently revealed some of the quarterback ratings for the latest version, Madden NFL 18.
Not surprisingly, Brady stands at the top. Coming off of his fifth Super Bowl win, the ratings designers for the game were left little choice by grant Brady a 99 overall rating. Here’s a quick rundown of a few attributes that EA offered:
Overall: 99
Awareness: 99
Speed: 62
Acceleration: 66
Agility: 67
Strength: 64
Notably, this comes as a slight contrast to Brady’s ratings in his very first Madden (Madden 2001). In that version, then-rookie Brady was simply labeled “QB No. 12” and was given only a 57 overall (with 50 speed).
Brady said in 2016 that he felt he was faster as a veteran than he was as a rookie. Apparently, EA Sports agrees.
