Julian Edelman disses Peyton Manning during ESPYs acceptance speech

The Vince Lombardi trophy isn’t the only hardware the Patriots earned from their Super Bowl LI victory. On Wednesday night, New England’s dramatic overtime comeback over Atlanta also earned them the ESPY award for best game.

Upon accepting the honor, wide receiver Julian Edelman used the stage time as an opportunity to slide in a dig about host Peyton Manning.

“You know, I never really thought I’d say this, but Peyton Manning is kind of killing it,” he quipped. “We are indoors though.”

Edelman’s remark is in reference to Manning’s struggles while playing in cold weather. Throughout his 18-year career, the now-retired NFL quarterback’s stats took a noticeable dip while playing in weather under 40 degrees.
