Tom Brady’s No. 12 is the best-selling jersey in these 17 states
Five states have their own NFL teams.
Tom Brady out-played a number of players en route to a thrilling come-from-behind Super Bowl victory this past season, but the quarterback out-matched nearly the entire league in a statistic off the field as well.
According to data provided by the NFL Shop, Brady’s jersey was the second best-seller overall — only behind that of Oakland Raiders running back Marshawn Lynch. Lynch was the leading purchase in 12 states, which was behind Brady’s 17.
It should come as no surprise that sales of his Patriots jersey dominated in all six New England states; however, it appears that No. 12 was also the top-seller in 11 other states across the country. Brady’s uniform out-sold all players in Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Illinois, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska and Virginia.
Four of these states have football franchises of their own, which means that the five-time Super Bowl champ had higher jersey sales than members of NFL teams in their own home state. No individual on the Baltimore Ravens, New Orleans Saints, Chicago Bears, Kansas City Chiefs, Miami Dolphins, Jacksonville Jaguars, or Tampa Bay Buccaneers could manage to out-sell the 39-year-old quarterback.
