The Red Sox won in extra innings against the Phillies for the second straight night, while the Patriots wrapped up their penultimate day of OTAs.

Julian Edelman the poster boy of Patriot Way: The team rewarded the 31-year-old wide receiver with a two-year contract extension last week that runs through the 2019 season. The new deal, which includes a $5 million signing bonus, allows Edelman to earn up to $19.5 million over the next three seasons if he hits all of his incentives. (Boston Globe)

Julian Edelman on contract extension: ‘I love being a Patriot’: “I’m looking forward to the 2017 season. Ready for more time to improve, taking advantage of these few weeks off to go off and work on my own and try to bring everything I have to help this team.” (Boston Herald)

Red Sox outlast Phillies 4-3 in 12 innings on Andrew Benintendi walk-off hit: Boston’s young outfielder put an end to yet another marathon game and a string of failed chances with a single in the 12th inning, driving in Xander Bogaerts from third for the winning run. (Boston.com)

John Farrell pressed on Pablo Sandoval roster viability: “He’ll be on the field. We’ll mix and match. We’ll find spots for him,” John Farrell said. “With Rutledge in the game [Tuesday night], you’re looking at a right-handed pitcher with big reverse splits and looking to take advantage of that with a right-handed hitter. And that’s why Rutledge is there. And he needs to be more consistent defensively. So with Pablo, we’ve got work to do. We’ve got to find a way to kind of generate a little of momentum with him, a little bit more confidence and we’ll pick spots to get him on the field.” (WEEI)

Bill Belichick’s message: No more Super Bowl talk, it’s all about 2017: “It was a great night, but, really, we need to move on to 2017. We’ve had enough parades, enough celebrations and enough everything. This ’17 team hasn’t done anything yet– none of us have. We really need to focus on what we’re doing this year. There have been a lot of great moments in the past, which is great, but that isn’t going to help us this year.” (ESPN)
