Welcome to Boston.com’s Sports Q, our daily conversation, initiated by you and moderated by Chad Finn, about a compelling topic in Boston sports. Here’s how it works: You submit questions to Chad through TwitterFacebook, email, his

Friday chat, and any other outlet you prefer. He’ll pick one each day (except for Saturday) to answer, then we’ll take the discussion to the comments. Chad will stop by several times per day to navigate. But you drive the conversation.

Sounds like Marshawn Lynch wants to play for the Patriots if the Raiders don’t sign him. The Pats look like they’re still a running back should. Who would you rather have, him or LeGarrette Blount? – Andrew M.

The correct answer is: Anyone but Adrian Peterson.

As enticing as it is to think of vintage Beast Mode in the Patriots backfield, I’ve still got to go with Blount. He’s eight months younger, and you don’t know whether Lynch will still be effective after a year away from football. He’s spent a year eating Skittles, traveling the world, and playing video games with Conan O’Brien. He might still have it. But there’s a decent chance he doesn’t.

Even if Blount falls off a little bit from last year, which makes sense given that he set the franchise single-season rushing touchdown record (18) and probably won’t do that again, there’s already a lot of evidence that he’s an ideal fit for what the Patriots require from that role. Plus, he’s likable in the same sort of way Lynch is, a unique character whom you want on your side. Just ask the end-zone militia. I hope he’s back.

Lynch would be a pretty cool Plan B, though. And the rumored possibility kind of feels like a troll job on Pete Carroll, which I’m all for.

Who is it for you if the Patriots sign one (to complement future Pro Bowler Rex Burkhardt, of course). Beast Mode, or the guy who actually was a beast last season? Have at it in the comments.
