Talk about your dark-horse hero.

Jame White, who was throughout the season the Patriots’ third option at running back, scored two touchdowns in the Patriots’ 25-point second-half comeback against the Atlanta Falcons in Super Bowl LI.

Then, in overtime, he scored a third. A pitch from the two-yard line, White’s touchdown run gave the Patriots a 34-28 win — and the franchise’s fifth Super Bowl victory.

White ended the game with six carries for 29 yards and two rushing touchdowns, as well as 14 catches for 110 yards and one receiving touchdown. He also scored a two-point conversion.

White’s 14 catches broke the record for receptions by a running back in the Super Bowl. It was previously held by former Patriots running back Shane Vereen, who set the record in 2015 with 11 catches.
