In the annual Madden simulation of the Super Bowl, conducted officially by EA Sports, the Patriots emerged victorious in a 27-24 thriller. Brady found Julian Edelman on a key fourth-and-goal play for the go-ahead touchdown:
Before Patriots fans dismiss this pregame simulation as a nice but meaningless piece of promotion, remember that it correctly predicted the final score before the team’s last Super Bowl appearance. The Super Bowl XLIX simulation also called that the Patriots would overcome a 10-point third quarter deficit.
In its history, the official EA Sports simulation of the Super Bowl has predicted the winner in nine of 13 tries.
