For Super Bowl first-timers, it’s a whole new whirl

One of Martellus Bennett’s favorite parts of a game day is the flyover of jet fighters after the national anthem. He loves hearing the roar of the engines and feeling the rush of air. It all seems like such a big deal.

The Patriots tight end has never played in a Super Bowl, so he’s not sure how he’ll feel standing on the sideline, back home in Houston, getting ready for the biggest game of all. He never daydreamed about playing in one back home as a kid because he never thought that much about why he was playing football to begin with.

“Football was just what we did,” Bennett said. “In Texas, if you don’t play football, you’re a weirdo. I always laugh because I always tell people it’s oil, football, and then God.”
