FOXBOROUGH — Since the start of this millennium, the Patriots have had the kind of consistent success that is supposed to be hard to come by in the NFL’s salary cap era. Fourteen straight seasons with double-digit wins. Seven trips to the Super Bowl, the latest coming as the second in three years.

Some things — namely the head coach and the starting quarterback — have been maintained. Players, however, have come and gone. Of the 44 Patriots who played in Super Bowl XLIX two years ago, only a little more than half (23) are still with the team.

“I think every year is a new year and there’s always going to be turnover. So this year’s team, it’s a completely different team,” said defensive end Rob Ninkovich, who has seen the faces in the locker room change in each of his eight years with the Patriots.
