Tom Brady’s record-breaking 2016 season is now being featured in the Hall of Fame
It's only a matter of time until the Patriots quarterback himself also arrives in Canton.
After setting the career record for wins by a quarterback Sunday, the jersey Tom Brady wore during the game quickly made it into the Patriots’ team hall of fame.
Turns out that more gear from Brady’s record-breaking season has now made it into the actual Hall of Fame out in Canton, Ohio.
Brady’s 201st career win Sunday against the Los Angeles Rams broke the all-time record, previously held by Peyton Manning, for wins by a quarterback.
Beginning Wednesday, a glass-case display at the Pro Football Hall of Fame features a used ball from Sunday’s game, along with Brady’s jersey and gloves from the previous week’s game against the New York Jets, when he became the fifth quarterback to break 60,000 career passing yards.
According to a spokesman for the Hall of Fame, the display will remain up for the “foreseeable future.”
Despite the recent, particularly historic streak of games, this isn’t the first time Brady paraphernalia is making a foray into the Hall. According a spokesman, there are already at least six Brady artifacts being displayed:
- Brady’s game-worn jersey from the 2002 Super Bowl against the Rams
- A game-used football from the 2002 Super Bowl, signed by Brady, the game’s MVP
- A game-used football from the 2004 Super Bowl, signed by Brady, who was named that game’s MVP as well
- A game-worn jersey from the 2008 Super Bowl and the Patriots’ 16-0 regular reason
- The jersey Brady wore when he threw his 400th career touchdown pass last year.
- The football Brady threw for his 421st touchdown pass, surpassing Dan Marino for third all time. Passed earlier this year by Drew Brees, Brady is now fourth on the list.
Brady is a surefire Hall of Famer, though it’s unlikely he’ll be joining his memorabilia in Canton anytime soon. Players are not eligible to be nominated for the Hall of Fame until at least five years after their retirement. Given the 39-year-old Brady’s intentions to continue playing until he’s at least 45, that could be awhile.
