Tom Brady has turned the page on Deflategate. And in a new commercial for Foot Locker’s “Week of Greatness”, the Patriots quarterback is even willing to launch a few jokes about the controversy.
In the ad, which was released on Wednesday, Brady overhears two Foot Locker customers discussing how the sports retailer can keep getting better and better every year.
“Kind of makes you wonder what Foot Locker’s up to,” one of the customers says as he sits down in a diner.
A previously unseen Brady, also sitting in the diner, cuts in.
“You know, that’s an unfortunate attitude,” the Patriots quarterback says. He then launches on a fake rant, where he alludes to the Deflategate investigation in which he was suspended for four games to start the 2016 season:
Just because something is great year after year doesn’t mean anything is going on. Why can’t some things just be great? It starts with questions, and then questions turn into assumptions, and then assumptions turn into vacations. So why would you punish the Week of Greatness for something that never even happened?
It’s not the first time Brady has shown his humorous side by being serious. He’s acted in multiple videos for “Funny or Die” that follow similar lines of comedy.
