Days after delivering one of the most talked about hits in the NFL this season, Seahawks safety Earl Thomas took to Twitter to explain his thoughts.

The hit, which was delivered against Rob Gronkowski during the 31-24 Seattle victory on Sunday night, may have punctured the Patriots tight end’s lung.

Thomas tweeted this in response:

In the postgame press conference, Gronkowski addressed the massive hit by explaining it in forthright terms:

He hit me fair and square. I mean, it’s football. You are going to get laid out, eventually.

If Thomas were to see Gronkowski again in a game during the current season, it would have to be a Super Bowl rematch in February.
