Rob Gronkowski: ‘It’s football, you’re going to get laid out eventually’

Rob Gronkowski learned why Seattle’s defensive backfield is called the “Legion of Boom” on Sunday night.

The Patriots’ 6′ 6″, 265-pound tight end isn’t accustomed to having the wind knocked out of him, but that’s exactly what happened during the second quarter of a 31-24 loss against the Seahawks.

On first down, a pass from Tom Brady intended for Gronkowski was perfectly defended by Seattle safety Kam Chancellor. And just for good measure, the other All-Pro Seahawks safety, Earl Thomas, came over the top to hit Gronkowski with a punishing (and legal) shot as he tried to make the catch.
