The Red Sox are in Cleveland for Game 1 of the ALDS, and Tom Brady returned to Patriots practice.

Rob Gronkowski insists he’s not worried about hamstring: ‘Hopefully, this week now it’s GO time’: Gronkowski spoke at yesterday’s Patriots press conference and faced questions about his hamstring following a report Tuesday that his injury has not been healing as the Patriots expected. Gronkowski reiterated that his hamstring feels better with each passing week, and said he hopes this is the week he is finally back to full strength. Gronk also faces questions from fantasy football players… (WEEI)

Here’s how David Ortiz revived his career after hitting rough patch: As explained in “The David Ortiz Era,” a new documentary chronicling the career of David Ortiz, the slugger’s 2009 struggles can be traced back to an injury he suffered in 2008. “That gave me a bad habit for the following season,” he said. “I created a loop in my swing and I wasn’t able to catch up to nothing.” Despite that rough age-33 season that seemed to mark his decline, Ortiz is obviously still going strong at 40. LeGarrette Blount (hip), among 8 Patriots limited at practice Wednesday: The Patriots best offensive producer this season was added to yesterday’s injury report, as LeGarrette Blount is apparently dealing with a hip injury after Sunday’s loss to the Bills. Blount’s injury could be problematic if he misses time, as the team is already down starting runningback Dion Lewis who is still recovering from knee surgery. Joe Thuney is another new and worrisome name on the injury report. (WEEI)

Even-year Giants strike again with Conor Gillaspie’s 3-run home run: By no fault of the dominant Noah Syndergaard, the Mets lost to the Giants in last night’s National League Wild Card game, after Conor Gillaspie hit a 3-run home run off the usually trustworthy Jeurys Familia. New York couldn’t manage a single run against San Francisco workhorse Madison Bumgarner, who pitched a complete game shutout. The Giants advance to the Divisional round, where the Cubs await them. Red Sox vs. Indians ALDS Game 1 preview: Rick Porcello vs. Trevor Bauer: Thanks to a plague of injuries striking the team’s rotation at the worst possible time, Cleveland will turn to its number four starter Trevor Bauer tonight against Cy Young candidate Rick Porcello. On Opening Day, Bauer was slotted behind Corey Kluber – who is recovering from an injury but in line to pitch Game 2, Carlos Carrasco, and Danny Salazar, the latter two of whom have both been ruled out for the playoffs.
