In only the second NFL game of his professional career, quarterback Jacoby Brissett was thrown directly into a pressure environment when Jimmy Garoppolo left with an injury.

Bill Belichick appreciated the effort made by the rookie.

When asked about Brissett’s play, Belichick responded by praising his development since joining the team in the spring following the 2016 draft.

“Jacoby – look, he’s been working for this for a long time, all the way back into the spring, all the way through training camp,” said Belichick. “He’s gotten a lot of reps. He did a good job; pressure situation, played two and a half quarters and he did a good job for us.”

Brissett was 6 of 9 for 92 yards in his relief appearance Sunday.
