Bill Belichick still disgusted by last season’s loss to Dolphins

In a press conference Wednesday morning, Bill Belichick was asked how hard it is for his team to focus after the emotional high of an upset win on the road in Arizona.

“Pretty easy,” he retorted. “All you’ve got to do is turn on our game against Miami last year. It’s sickening. Yeah, it doesn’t take long at all. I don’t know if you had a chance to see that or not. It wasn’t very good; bad coaching, bad playing, just bad period.”

The Patriots lost to the Dolphins in the final regular season game last season, 20-10, and with it they lost home-field advantage to the Broncos. The Patriots spent most of the game running the ball in an attempt to protect Brady and rested several offensive starters too. Ultimately, the Patriots went into Denver for the AFC Championship Game and lost to the eventual Super Bowl champs.

“Right now, we’re focused on playing them this week,” he said. “The 2015 review, I’m sure you did that. That was great. I’m sure you did a great job on it. We’re really past it. We’re on to 2016. We’re playing the Dolphins.”

When asked what improvements Ryan Tannehill has made since last year, he adjusted the question a bit. “Since he killed us last year?” he asked rhetorically. “I mean that was pretty good. He’s a good quarterback. He’s smart, he handles the offense well, he certainly takes control of things at the line of scrimmage.”

The Patriots host the Dolphins Sunday at 1 p.m. at Gillette Stadium.
