Morning Sports Update: Patriots release Josh Kline after removing him from trade
Kline looked like a candidate to start at right guard after a strong 2015 but struggled this preseason.
In what was probably a foreseeable move, the Patriots have released Josh Kline after the Eagles removed him from the trade.
Patriots have informed G Josh Kline that they are releasing him. Kline was originally included in trade with Eagles for CB Eric Rowe.

Dave Dombrowski says Steven Wright was not rushed back: “We don’t rush guys back. We don’t really do that,” Dombrowski said. “The doctors felt he was comfortable to [return], he said he was comfortable to do that. No, I’ve never rushed a guy back. Circumstances happen at various times. I’m not really sure why. I’m not a doctor in this case.” Dombrowski said the team didn’t know Wright only felt 50%, either. (Boston Herald)
Rob Gronkowski reportedly headlines quartet of Patriots captains: According to reports, the Patriots captains for 2016, as voted by the players themselves, are Rob Gronkowski, Devin McCourty, Donta Hightower, and Matthew Slater. Gronk and Hightower are first time captains, while Slater and McCourty maintain their captaincy for the fifth year. Suspended Patriots Tom Brady and Rob Ninkovich were also captains last year.
