The Patriots will trade center Bryan Stork to the Redskins for a conditional pick, according to a report from NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport on Wednesday. Rapoport had initially reported Wednesday that Stork would be released. However, according to the Boston Herald‘s Jeff Howe, general manager Scott McCloughan saw the report and traded for Stork before the center was officially released.

The Patriots will also release veteran receiver Nate Washington, according to CSNNE’s Tom E. Curran.

Stork, a former fourth-round pick, played in 21 regular-season games and started 17. He played predominantly at center, but also took snaps at guard and tackle. He has suffered from concussion and shoulder problems, and started the 2015 season on the injured reserve/designated to return list. When he came back, he and center David Andrews battled for the starting center position, which Stork eventually won back.

Andrews has taken snaps with the starters in much of the Patriots’ training camp and the first two preseason games. Josh Kline has taken snaps as a backup center along with getting reps with the starting offense at right guard.

Washington signed with the Patriots this offseason to a one-year deal. He’s a 11-year veteran with 6,954 career yards and 44 career touchdowns.
