NFL removes ‘probable’ status from injury reports for 2016 season
According to the NFL, 95 percent of the players who were listed as ‘probable’ played in their game.
The NFL has adjusted their definitions for injury status reports, and has eliminated the “probable” status.
“The ‘Probable’ category was eliminated from the Game Status Report because approximately 95 percent of the players who were listed as ‘Probable’ in prior years did in fact play in the game,” the league said in a statement.
The definitions of “questionable” and “doubtful” listings have also changed. “Questionable,” which previously meant a player has a 50-50 chance of playing, now means “it is uncertain as to whether the player will play in the game.” “Doubtful,” which previously meant a play had a 75 percent chance of playing, now means “it is unlikely the player will participate.”
Tom Brady has often been listed as “probable” with a shoulder injury throughout his career. That shoulder injury has never resulted in him missing a game.
