Jimmy Garoppolo says he’s learning from Tom Brady but ‘hasn’t adopted the avocado ice cream yet’

"I’m still on an all-natural ice cream diet," Garoppolo said.

Jimmy Garoppolo’s snap count sounds a little bit like Tom Brady’s. Garoppolo continues to hone his quick release like Brady. On the field, the two quarterbacks have some similarities after two-plus years of working together. Still, there are some obvious differences: Garoppolo is 15 years younger and at least two inches shorter.

And apparently, their diets are different, too.

“I haven’t adopted the avocado ice cream yet, I’m still on an all-natural ice cream diet,” Garoppolo said Monday on WEEI’s “The Dennis and Callahan Show.” “He does so much for me off the field, too, he always tells me be courteous to the media, smile for you guys, stuff like that. Stuff like that goes a long way, it doesn’t seem like much, but at the end of the day it’s just helpful, and helps in a work atmosphere.”

Brady credits his unique diet as one of the reasons for his longevity in the league. And he has often spoken about his love for avocado ice cream, one of the few treats he’s allowed on his diet.

While Garoppolo is apparently open to coaching from Brady, Brady’s diet isn’t a piece of wisdom that’s been passed down from quarterback to quarterback.
