Chandler Jones thanked Bill Belichick for ‘not trading me to a crappy team’

Athletes constantly remind fans (and themselves) that sports are a business, especially when they’ve been cut or traded.

That doesn’t mean they don’t hope to land in the best possible situation, and with the Cardinals Chandler Jones has that.

He showed his appreciation with a call to Bill Belichick, which he described to USA Today:

“I didn’t get a chance to speak to him (the day of the trade) — he was on a flight or something. But I called him the next day and said, ‘Hey, you could’ve traded me to any other team, so thank you for not trading me to a crappy team.”

Jones says the call got a laugh out of Belichick, but the Patriots head coach likely won’t be laughing when Jones lines up against his team in Week 1.
