Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman wasn’t fully participating in a rainy practice on Wednesday, but he jumped into the mix to catch a few balls from quarterback Tom Brady during early sets of drills.

Edelman left practice early on Tuesday, reportedly suffering a minor leg injury. According to ESPN.com’s Mike Reiss, Edelman took himself out of a drill, and slammed his helmet to the ground. He walked to the back of the field, and trainers took a look at him. He exited soon after.

On Wednesday, he arrived to practice a little late in shoulder pads and shorts. After warming up with the team, he participated in a few drills before leaving the field.

Edelman reportedly underwent surgery on his left foot, which he broke during the 2015 season and missed six regular-season games. He returned for both of the Patriots playoff games.
