Jamie Collins was “excused” from the first practice of Patriots training camp on Thursday, Bill Belichick told reporters Friday morning. While Collins missed practice on Thursday, he was present and practicing at training camp on Friday.

“He’s here. No issues,” Belichick said.

Collins reported to camp on Wednesday, according to ESPN’s Mike Reiss. He was also present for all of the Patriots minicamp and OTAs.

The fourth-year linebacker enters the final year of his rookie deal after posting 89 tackles, 5.5 sacks, and one interception in 12 games during the 2015 season. Collins’s absence was not contract-related, according to CSNNE’s Tom Curran.
