Rob Gronkowski not worried about playing without Tom Brady
"I'm ready to go, baby... I beast out no matter what, baby"
Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski made a rare appearance on the radio during 98.5 The Sports Hub’s Felger & Mazz program.
Asked about the team losing Tom Brady to suspension and needing to rely on Jimmy Garoppolo, Gronk gave the newcomer a vote of confidence. “We’ve got a lot of confidence in every single player on the team,” Gronkowski said. In typical Patriots fashion, he added that his focus is on improving himself and preparing to help the team, however he can, right away.
“We’ve been working together for two years,” Gronkowski said. He explained that during practice, coaches line up first-team participants with the second-team often, mixing and matching the groups to breed familiarity. “When situations like this happen, everyone is comfortable with each other,” the tight end said.
Gronkowski was also asked about losing to Denver in the AFC championship game, to which he responded, “We’re just focused on the 2016 season, baby, you gotta talk to coach Belichick if you wanna ask about that,” he said. Asked about a tweet he sent out in March that led some to speculate that he was displeased with his contract, he said “I beast out no matter what, baby.”
Gronk also said in the interview that he had not given any consideration to when his career will end, not “one single bit, yet.”
