Abiola Aborishade really, really wants to play for the New England Patriots— and he’s taking his efforts to a new level.
Aborishade has been standing outside Gillette Stadium almost every day since April 21 in hopes of getting the opportunity to try out for the team, according to MassLive.
The former standout receiver at Division III UMass Dartmouth stands under the bridge at the intersection of Route 1 and Patriot Place, next to a poster which reads “talented hardworking athlete hoping for a chance to prove myself.”
MassLive reports Aborishade has logged about 130 hours, waiting for his shot in between his shifts at Enterprise Rent-A-Car in Norwood, about seven miles north of Gillette.
And Aborishade’s efforts aren’t going unnoticed.
He told MassLive that he’s received words of encouragement from some of the Patriots players and staff.
This past Thursday, Patriots cornerback Malcolm Butler posted a photo of Aborishade to his Facebook, writing, “This reminded me to always be thankful and never take your blessings for granted… On the other hand, this is the attitude you must have if you really want something…….#NEVERGIVEUP”
