Russell Wilson gives Wisconsin commencement address, ‘purely hypothetical’ last-minute Super Bowl advice
Four years after he finished his football career with the Wisconsin Badgers, Russell Wilson returned to Madison with some salient advice for the Class of 2016.
The Seattle Seahawks quarterback began his commencement speech Saturday with helpful tips for graduates from the thing’s he’s learned in life, in dating, and in certain athletic endeavors.
“And if you’re playing New England in the Super Bowl,” Wilson said, “and you’ve got 26 seconds left and you’re down by four and it’s second and goal on their one-yard line, try not to throw an interception.”
“That’s purely, purely hypothetical though, of course,” he joked.
Of course.
On a less regretful note from his speech Saturday, Wilson (who is engaged to the singer Ciara) proffered Wisconsin graduates some other advice that his Super Bowl XLIX counterpart would also agree on.
“If you’re dating a woman that’s way out of your league,” he said, “ask her to marry you.”
