Patriots reportedly sign defensive end Chris Long to one-year deal
The Patriots continue their turnover in the trenches.
The Patriots signed defensive end Chris Long to a one-year deal on Tuesday evening, according to ESPN’s Trey Wingo. The deal came hours after the Patriots traded defensive end Chandler Jones to the Arizona Cardinals for guard Jonathan Cooper and a 2016 second-round pick.

The 30-year-old defensive lineman spent eight seasons with the Rams after the franchise selected him 2nd-overall in the 2008 NFL Draft. He accumulated 41.5 sacks in a four-season period from 2010 to 2013. During that span, he also played in every regular season game. However, he has only 4.0 sacks in the last two seasons. In 2014, He missed 10 games due to an ankle injury, which required surgery, and he missed four games due to a knee injury in 2015.
