Quarterback convert Braxton Miller says he’s studying Julian Edelman to prepare for draft

Can Miller join the likes of quarterback converts Hines Ward, Josh Cribbs, and Julian Edelman?

Braxton Miller has been watching tape on a fellow quarterback convert, Julian Edelman. Miller told SBNation’s Dan Kadar he’s been studying the Patriots receiver, as well as Packers receiver Randall Cobb. And his studies appear to be paying off. Draft analysts in the media are buzzing about Miller, and the Bears, Colts, and Chiefs reportedly interviewed the quarterback convert at a pre-draft event in Mobile, Ala.

Edelman was not invited to the 2009 NFL Combine, but his agility drills during his pro day would have placed high among his draft class. He finished with a 6.62 second 3-cone drill, which would have tied for fastest among wide receivers, and a 3.92 20-yard shuttle, which would have been the fastest time at the combine.

Like retired Steelers receiver Hines Ward, Miller made his transition from quarterback to wideout in college, whereas Edelman began his transition after leaving Kent State. Miller finished the 2015 season with 26 receptions, 341 yards, and three touchdowns.

The Houston Texans recognized Miller’s quickness, as they captured a vine of one of his routes at the Senior Bowl.
