Watch the Broncos stop the Patriots’ two-point conversion in final seconds of AFC title game

It all came down to one play — and two points.

The Denver Broncos made the play. They are going to Super Bowl 50.

The New England Patriots didn’t get the points. Their season is over.

Trailing 20-18 after a touchdown pass from quarterback Tom Brady to tight end Rob Gronkowski with 12 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter, the Patriots needed a two-point conversion to potentially force overtime against the Broncos in the AFC Championship Game on Sunday in Denver. On the pivotal play, Brady rolled to his right before throwing a pass toward wide receiver Julian Edelman at the goal line. The pass was tipped up in the air and caught by Broncos cornerback Bradley Roby.

After recovering the Patriots’ ensuing onside kick attempt, the Broncos held on the for 20-18 win. They advance to the Super Bowl for the second time in three seasons.

The Patriots found themselves needing a two-point conversion to pull even in the closing moments after kicker Stephen Gostkowski missed an extra-point try in the first quarter. The miss came after the Patriots pulled within 7-6 of the Broncos on a Steven Jackson rushing touchdown. It was Gostkowski’s first miss since 2006.
