Devin McCourty on the main reason Peyton Manning is so dangerous
Peyton Manning is banged up. Peyton Manning is having a career year, and not in the good sense (Lowest passer rating in his career, lowest completion percentage, worst touchdown/interception ratio since his rookie season). But Devin McCourty isn’t writing off the future Hall-of-Famer; he knows Peyton still has exactly what’s necessary to make his team succeed.
In an interview on Comcast Sportsnet New England’s “Quick Slants,’’ McCourty spoke about the Denver QB’s impact.
“As you watch that last drive against Pittsburgh, I could just tell as he’s coming to the line, stopping everything, talking, you could just feel like he was getting into the perfect play…He’s a guy that’s always well-prepared. He knows what he wants to do on the field. He gets the ball where he wants to get it.’’
Manning’s performance against a beat-up Steelers’ team in the divisional round wasn’t exactly sexy, but going 21 of 37 for 222 yds, 0 TD’s and 0 INT’s got the job done.
And the 39 year-old still has a few tricks up his sleeve. Even if those tricks include falling on the ground gracelessly, then recovering for a clean completion and a first down.

“Everyone will talk about what he can and can’t do, he just went out there and won a divisional playoff game and got his team into the AFC Championship, so. …’’ said McCourty.
