Patriots defensive end Chandler Jones was admitted to a local hospital Sunday and released later that day, the team told the Boston Herald in a Monday statement.

“Chandler Jones was admitted to the hospital on Sunday and released later that day,’’ the statement read. “He reported to work on time Monday morning and has participated in all meetings and practices since then.’’

According to Foxborough police dispatch records obtained by the Herald, Jones arrived at the police station at 7:42 a.m. Sunday with a medical emergency and was soon transported to Norwood Hospital. An officer was also dispatched to Jones’ nearby home to “secure the residence,’’ according to the reports.

Foxborough Police Chief Edward T. O’Leary, who denied knowledge of Jones’ encounter with police to the Herald, told the newspaper medical information was deleted from the dispatch records because it’s “protected information.’’

Jones, 25, was named to the Pro Bowl this season and led the Patriots with 12.5 sacks. The Patriots, who had a first-round bye, host the Kansas City Chiefs in the Divisional round Saturday at Gillette Stadium.
