Tom Brady adorably meets with 8-year-old cancer patient
An 8-year-old cancer patient enjoyed a hug-filled day with Patriots star Tom Brady in Foxboro on Saturday.

Hailey Steward, who was first diagnosed with leukemia when she was five, was the focus of an emotional profile in the Portland Press-Herald on Friday. The story delved into her infatuation with Brady and the Patriots, most evident in her hospital room decorated with Brady memorabilia, No. 12 blankets, a cutout of Brady’s head, and a Brady “Elf on the Shelf,’’ the Press-Herald reports.
Brady recorded a Christmas video for Hailey, wishing her a Merry Christmas and inviting her to come to Foxboro to meet on Saturday.

“I was hoping you’d be willing to come down here this Saturday before we leave for New York and I’d get a chance to meet you,’’ Brady said. “So maybe you can ask your mom and dad if that’s what you want for Christmas.’’
Her parents apparently approved. On Saturday, Hailey’s Facebook page posted several pictures of her and Brady embracing.

Steward’s long-term prognosis is promising, her physician told the Press-Herald. You can follow her journey on the family’s Facebook page.
