Todd Bowles calls Malcolm Butler one of the NFL’s best cornerbacks
Todd Bowles should know a good cornerback when he sees one.
The New York Jets head coach oversees one of the league’s best in Darrelle Revis, but on Tuesday, Bowles couldn’t heap enough praise on the man who replaced Revis in New England, Malcolm Butler.
“Malcolm is probably one of the best in the league,’’ said Bowles. He shows up, he takes the best cover guy. … He studies the game. He’s not just a man corner, he’s a zone corner too. He’s feisty. He has very good technique, which is rare. He’s got great hand-eye coordination. He reads the ball. He accepts all challenges and you can tell he works at it. I enjoy watching him play.’’
Butler was named to his first Pro Bowl Tuesday. On the season, he has two interceptions and has more than held his own as New England’s top cornerback.
