Meet David Price’s closest companion: Astro, the French bulldog
Here’s an important thing to know about the Red Sox’s new ace David Price: He has a dog.
But if you follow Price on social media, you already knew that. Astro, a French bulldog, is frequently featured across the starting pitcher’s active Instagram and Twitter accounts.

Fresh off signing Price to a 7-year, $217-million deal last week, the Red Sox went out of their way to welcome Astro to Boston with a tweet.

During Price’s time with the Tampa Bay Rays, Astro was sure to make his presence known. He even had his own bobblehead and team jersey.

Don’t worry, the Red Sox say they’ll hook him up with a new one.
According to Fox Sports, Astro is named after George Jetson’s dog from the 1960s cartoon show (he is not named after the baseball team; nice try, Houston).

Here some other important things to know about Astro:
He’s a big smiler.

When Price took his companion to spring training in 2013, the then-Rays pitcher told a Tampa Bay TV station that Astro was single, perhaps because he has “horrible gas.’’ Astro also showed off a few tricks, including his ability to “high-five’’ the back of Price foot.

When Price was traded from the Rays to the Detroit Tigers, he was sure to include Astro in the full-page thank you ad he took out in the Tampa Bay Times.

“Astro and I love you all,’’ Price wrote. “We miss you already.’’
Astro, whose Twitter account has amassed more than 5,700 followers, accompanied Price to spring training in 2015 with the Tigers.

He’s also pretty good at jumping…

And like any good dog, Astro is very much into lounging around.

For all the money Price is apparently worth, Astro sure seems priceless.
