Jamie Collins reportedly plans to play Sunday vs. Eagles
The return of Jamie Collins would be a sight for sore eyes — and knees, and feet, and biceps.
The New England Patriots linebacker plans to play Sunday against the Philadelphia Eagles, according to The Boston Globe. Collins missed four games due to an undisclosed illness. According to the NFL Network’s Ian Rappoport, Collins was over the sickness in mid-November leading up to the Bills-Patriots matchup, but needed to regain weight and strength.
Bill Belichick has said very little about the linebacker’s status, but team president Jonathan Kraft addressed it on Sunday before the Patriots’ game against the Broncos.
“Jamie is getting better and getting stronger everyday,’’ Kraft told 98.5 The Sports Hub, via CSNNE.com “I know people in non-football life that end up with really bad viruses and get knocked out of their professional lives for a while. I think when people see it happen with a professional athlete, it resonates much more loudly.’’
Collins’s potential return comes after Dont’a Hightower was diagnosed with an MCL sprain. He is expected to miss two to three weeks.
